1. Appreciate what you have. Take time to focus on what you are grateful for. It is a good way to improve your mood. Good mood is positive. Also reduces stress. Less stress is positive too. Work daily to cultivate your attitude of gratitude for positive vibes.

2. Quit wondering about "what ifs?" Questions which starts with "what if?" will cause your worry hormones to go into overdrive and wreck havoc on your serenity. Stop worrying about the possibilities and spend your time and effort on taking actions. Positive ones, of course.

3. Think positive. Positive thoughts focus your brain's attention onto something pleasant which in turn lead to positive actions.

4. Take time off. Detach yourself from the negative environment. Be on the outside looking in. It will do wonders to your perspective on a given situation.

5. Go easy on coffee. When caffeine puts your brain and body into a hyperaroused state, your emotions has a tendency to overrun your behavior. The same can have a negative impact on your entire being.

6. Get enough rest. Sleep is necessary in increasing your emotional intelligence and overall well-being. During sleep, your brain literally recharges, so you wake up alert and clear headed. Your self-control, attention and memory are reduced when you don't get enough sleep. Sleep deprivation triggers negative thoughts and emotions.

7. Do not entertain negative thoughts. A hurdle in remaining positive is ignoring negative thoughts. The more you entertain negative thoughts, the more power you give them. Most of our negative thoughts are just that - thoughts, not facts. Identifying and labeling your thoughts as thoughts, by separating them from facts, will help you escape the cycle of negativity and move toward a positive new outlook.

8. Stay focus. Reframe your perspective . Get rid of your skewed perception of events and circumstances. While you cannot control your circumstances, you can exercise control on how you respond to them. Before you dwell on something, try first to put the situation in perspective. Be calm. Stay focus.

9. Perform breathing exercises on a regular basis. Breathe. The practice of being in tune with your breathing will train your brain to focus where you want it to. The goal is to spend the entire time focused on your breathing. Think about how it is to breathe in and out. Think you are inhaling positivity and exhaling negativity. The task may seem too easy but it is hard to do for more than a minute. It may even feel silly, but you will be surprised by how much easier it is to let go of negative thoughts afterwards. Those distracting thoughts that seem to have lodged permanently inside your brain.

10. Reach out.

To whom? To your support system. Ask for help when you need it. Only when the situation is challenging enough for you to feel overwhelmed. Everyone has someone ready to help them out of a difficult situation. Identify these individuals in your life and seek their assistance when you need it. Something as simple as talking will provide an outlet for all the pent up negativity. The same will supply you with a fresh and positive outlook to face a given situation. Other people can see a solution that you cannot because they are not as emotionally invested in the situation. Reaching out will strengthen your relationship with those you rely upon.
